Smart Glasses
The plans for smart glasses include an Internet connection that will allow you to go online or watch videos right on your glasses lens. The goal is that you will be able to see what is ahead of you while you are wearing the glasses. Some plans for the glasses include built-in cameras, having software that will recognize certain faces, and a GPS system. Some smart glasses will connect to a laptop or smart phone. There are some planning Bluetooth connections. There are also going to be certain apps that can connect to the glasses.
There are already many companies working on these extraordinary glasses. Those companies are: Google, Apple, and Vuzix. Smart glasses will be able to access the internet, have different options for taking pictures and create augmented and virtual realities. You can either be watching a movie, getting directions or playing a game. Vuzix, is a leader in this video eye-wear technology. Vuzix plays many commercials already advertising for its new product.
Some smart glasses versions include abilities that can track were people are. They also include earpieces that attach to the lens. It also includes many voice activation features. Smart glasses look like sunglasses similar to the ones worn in the movie Terminator. The company, Vuzix offers multiple augmented reality glasses and apps for the military and medical fields. They include night vision glasses.
The Google version, includes a heads-up display (HUD.) HUD allows users to view the information on a transparent lens without looking away from the viewpoint, just like looking through a pair of regular glasses. Google’s smart glasses include a non-transparent screen in one of the glass lenses, that has a camera that can record a video and have navigation controls of the HUD. The Google version is also voice-activated and has responses related to Siri’s voice on an i-Phone.
Now, as you know there are some advantages in owning a pair of smart glasses. Here are a few, it is hands free, meaning you don’t have to pull out your phone to take a picture or answer a text message every five seconds, it comes up on your screen. Another reason is, it makes your life so much easier. For example, if you are on google maps and you are trying to get to your destination, you don’t have to keep looking at your phone or GPS after every command. All of that information will be on the lens right in front of your eyes.
There are also as many downsides of these wonderful smart glasses are there are good sides. Here they are, the smart glasses may hurt your vision if worn for a long period of time. It could also give you headaches and dizziness, some people feel nausea after wearing them as well. Also, these amazing smart glasses could be a distraction. Meaning, when you are driving, you could get distracted by the features and not realize the light is green or red or farther worse incidents.
